“Give a woman the right lipstick and she can conquer the world.” – Avon
I have been wearing lipstick almost daily for more than 15 years now. I wore it to class during college days, I wear it when I go to work, to the gym or even when I go to the convenience store. When I meet up with friends or bring my girls to the park. When I go to a special occasion or pay the bills. I can’t remember a day leaving the house without wearing lipstick. I was and still am not a slave to any particular brand, to me it’s always been about the color, and what I feel comfortable wearing. Through the years, lipstick always gives me that good feeling and kicks up my confidence perfectly.
One night when I was alone at home pondering what to write for mother’s day, that I realized, one of the many things I got from my mom is the love for lipstick. When I was a kid, I would always see my mom glide on lipstick before going anywhere. There was NEVER a time that I could remember, when my mother left the house without one. Even now in her advanced years, she is still rocking her red lipstick. And just like my mother, even in my old age, I will never consider going anywhere without it.
And so to honor the most selfless, beautiful and toughest woman I know, who gave birth to an oddball kid. This blog is for you. You are my first love, my first influencer, my first hero. Thanks for teaching me to rise above my circumstances, I still adhere to it.
Mimang, I don’t have a decent photo of us together, so for now my lipsticks will do. haha… HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, I LOVE YOU!
